SANTA CLARA, CA (January 17, 2018) – Digital Mountain, Inc., a leading national provider of Universal Discovery Management solutions including electronic discovery, computer forensics, cybersecurity and a next-generation Web-based platform, FileQuest®, announced today that the company has been selected to present on “Digital Forensics of IoT Devices: Challenges and Opportunities in a Dynamic Landscape” at the Symposium on Securing the Internet of Things 2018.    

According to Statista.com, the installed base of Internet of Things devices is forecasted to grow to almost 31 billion worldwide by 2020. With the continued explosion of interconnected devices and corresponding data available for business analytics, marketing and other purposes, data available becomes a treasure trove for digital investigations. Ms. Lewis will review digital evidence available from wearables, car infotainment systems, drones and smart appliances; as well as, discuss the relevance of cloud and smartphones in evaluating IoT devices and the most optimal commercially available tools for data preservation and investigations.  Preservation techniques across these dynamic devices and issues to consider when conducting analysis procedures will also be part of this must-attend presentation.

The Symposium on Securing the IoT 2018 will be held at the Crowne Plaza San Francisco Airport, Burlingame, California on March 6-7, 2018. Hosted by OATH, the Initiative for Open Authentication. OATH promotes standard, open technology to address the security challenges present in networked organizations. Digital Mountain is pleased to be a contributor to this timely event. Julie Lewis is President, CEO, and Founder of Digital Mountain, a leading provider of computer forensics, cybersecurity and electronic discovery services. She has over 20 years of experience working in the high technology industry. Prior to founding Digital Mountain, Julie worked at VERITAS Software with next-generation storage, security and search companies. Before joining VERITAS, Julie worked in the venture capital and investment banking industries in both the Silicon Valley and Boston areas focusing on the Internet Infrastructure, security and software sectors. In addition, Julie worked for two of the Big 4 accounting firms doing financial and IT auditing, as well as M&A due diligence as a CPA. She also worked for Applied Magnetics, a publicly traded provider of disk and tape drive components. Julie earned an MBA under fellowship from the F.W. Olin Graduate School of Business at Babson College and a BA in both Business Economics and Sociology from the University of California at Santa Barbara. She is a member of the High Tech Crime Investigation Association (HTCIA), American Bar Association, National Association of Litigation Support Managers (NALSM), Sedona Conference's Working Group on Data Security and Privacy Liability, Cloud Security Alliance and has received her EnCE (Encase Certification in Computer Forensics). Julie is founding Co-Chair of the Silicon Valley Chapter of Women in eDiscovery.
